A monoprint is a unique type of art where an image is painted on a surface, like a piece of glass or a metal plate, and then pressed onto paper. I love this medium because it is a perfect blend of painting and printmaking. I first learned about this in graduate school. But anyone who has made a fairly wet and gloppy painting, and laid a blank sheet atop it to take an impression, has made a monoprint. The original image definitely transforms in the translation.
